Hi, I'm Jess. Creator of Haliburton Lake Wear.
Thank you so much for supporting my small Ontario based business. Haliburton Lake Wear was started in 2019 and our online store 'officially' opened in the spring of 2020. From Paudash Lake in Haliburton County and Fairy Bay in Huntsville, to Lake Murray in South Carolina and Crater Lake in Oregon, USA - our custom lake wear has travelled far and wide!
Why Haliburton Lake Wear?
The Haliburton Highlands stole my heart at an early age. Like so many of you, I've made countless memories here, which inspired me to create something unique to the Highlands. From learning to fish, tubing behind my best friend's tin-boat, and cliff jumping on Kennisis Lake, to art camp at Camp White Pine, snowmobile weekends and New Years' on Haliburton Lake, working as a Baker at Onondaga Camp on Middle Bob Lake (and that 4am fresh bread smell!), to my bachelorette party at Bark Lake, this is one of my favorite places on earth! I am extremely fortunate to have a family cottage on Kennisis Lake and look forward to many more adventures here!
I started Haliburton Lake Wear because creating things for people brings me a lot of joy. I hope you enjoy our products just as much as I enjoy creating them.
Entrepreneurship is part of who I am. My family, especially my Dad and his crazy business ideas, inspired me to follow suit. At age 13 I started a little business making Christmas cookies which evolved into making wedding cakes, at 19 I started and ran a children's summer art camp called Color Cabin (a wild and exhausting experience), at 22 I started a crafting business selling rustic home décor at craft shows, at 24 my now husband and I started our real-estate rental business with a couple bucks and an under-estimated fixer-upper, at 27 I took a stab at running a seasonal food truck, and at 28 I started Haliburton Lake Wear. I'm pretty much always up to something creative or entrepreneurial.
Haliburton Lake Wear combined my passion for business, the arts, and my love for the Haliburton Highlands. When I'm not working at my full-time job for a pretty sweet car company, I'll be here, crafting up some new ideas!
All of our products are made to order in Sunderland, Ontario! We are very excited to announce that we will be moving out of our guest room and into a cute little 450 square foot work shop on River Street, in fall 2021.
We regularly support community and environmental initiatives in both Haliburton County and surrounding areas. We are a member of the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust, and $1.00 from each sale is donated to this organization. In addition, we often donate to various fundraisers such as Heat Bank Haliburton and Kawartha Artisan Market's Silent Auction for families in need. We also purchase a number of supplies from companies that support re-forestation projects. Learn more about the causes that we support here:
